OBU – Loyd Noble Wellness Center
A survey among OBU students listed the need for additional recreational and fitness training opportunities as one of OBU’s greatest needs (from the student perspective.) The survey results induced the University to build a large, two‑story addition tied into the Noble Complex, the existing sports facility. The Wellness Center serves students, faculty and staff, as well as the Shawnee community by providing up‑to‑date facilities for intramural sports, fitness testing, training, exercise, athletic offices and locker rooms. VIP boxes for the gymnasium were added to boost support of the Bison basketball team. The Wellness Center also houses OBU’s degree programs in Health, Physical Education and Recreation (approximately 120 students.) All OBU students are required to take physical activity classes, meaning all OBU students use the recreation facilities.
